State Flag Square in Minsk
The State Flag Square is a patriotic landmark of Minsk, which symbolises love for the motherland and reminds of the national values. This square is located on Pobediteley Avenue and up to this day remains the youngest square of the capital, as it was built in 2013.
The place for the square was not chosen accidentally. Due to the constant winds in this area the flag always proudly flutters. The square is built in the shape of a circle, the diameter of which is 100 meters. At the center of this circle is a flagpole 70 meters long, crowned with the flag of Belarus. The flag canvas weighs 25 kilograms and its area is 98 square meters, which makes the banner noticeable even from afar. The perimeter of the State Flag Square is decorated with steles depicting the coats of arms of Minsk and its regions. There also are steles with the map of Belarus and the text of the national anthem.
By the way, the Belarusian flag is an integral part of the country's culture: the green stripe on this flag indicates the peaceful and calm nature of Belarusians. The red one stands for the blood shed in the struggle for freedom and independence. A white stripe with an ornament, in its turn, symbolizes the purity and spirituality of the Belarusian people. The State Flag Square is one of those sights built in honor of Belarusian sovereignty. The visit to this square allows you to experience the patriotic feelings of Belarusians for their independence and history.
