Victory Park is considered to be one of the most favorite sightseeings in Minsk. Located on Pobediteley Avenue by the Svisloch River, it covers quite a big territory which includes 25 kilometers of pedestrian zones. Park offers picturesque views that are unlikely to leave indifferent those who are fond of outdoor recreation. There are also many ways to spend your time during the visit with pleasure. For instance, one can rent bicycles and catamarans, use rickshaw services, enjoy street cafes, cozy gazebos, sports and playgrounds.
The history of the park, however, is rather sad. The construction of the park began in 1940. The park and the artificial lake were built with the help of Komsomol members. The celebration of the park’s opening was scheduled for June 22, 1941 –– the very day when the war began. At the end of the war, it was decided to call this place Victory Park, and the lake was called Komsomolsky in memory of those with whose hands it was created.
Today, in this beautiful park, Minsk residents rest with children, friends, lovers or by themselves. The park itself has also changed during the years of its existence with fountains appeared in it, which are the pride of Minsk, new attractions and much more. Victory Park looks like a fairytale forest and will be a great place to relax from the hustle and bustle of the big city allowing to enjoy the tranquility.
How to get there: from the Nemiga metro station, go along the Pobediteley avenue to the bus stop ‘Dvorets Sporta’, then change to buses 1, 69, 73, 91 (to the bus stop ‘Komsomolskoye Ozero’)
