Ski Resort Raubichi in Belarus
Raubichi is the legendary Belarusian center where professionals train for Olympic winter sports. It is located 20 kilometers away from Minsk, and its territory is called 'Belarusian Switzerland' due to its picturesque nature. Glacial hills, transparent Usyazha river, blue reservoir make this area beautiful not only for those who are interested in outdoor activities, but also for tourists, who are willing to admire the beauty of the highlands.
In addition, the Cross Church, a monument of architecture in which you can find a museum of folk arts and crafts, is located here. The decision to build the Raubichi complex was made in 1974, when the USSR received the right to host the biathlon world championship. Mild climate in winter, rough terrain, low distance from the airport and the railway station are the factors that influenced the choice of the location for the construction of a sports complex.
'Raubichi' includes not only a sports track, but also hotels, saunas, gyms, which made the complex an excellent base for competitions on the international level. Due to this 8 world and European championships in biathlon were held in Raubichi, as well as other winter sports (skiing, freestyle). The complex itself received the highest category while being evaluated by the International Biathlon Union.
In Raubichi you can find ski slopes of high difficulty, ski jumps, indoor ice rink, roller skating rink, shooting range, tennis courts, basketball and handball playgrounds. For those who do not stay for hotel accommodation and visit the complex just to relax, special places are equipped. The complex itself survived a grand restoration and is now equipped with everything that is necessary for the competition on the international level.
How to get there:
By public transport: minibuses ‘Minsk-Prilepy’ (stop ‘Raubichi’), ‘Minsk-Baturinka’, ‘Minsk-Gorodok’. From the stop to the complex 800 meters by feet.
